This study employs qualitative analysis and digital humanities tools to document and interpret provenance marks. The project uses e-Albanica, the National Library’s digital platform, for accessing and analyzing digitized versions of rare books.
The research is based on the study of digitized materials in the collection of the National Library of Albania in their e-Albanica library. The digital library of Albania has digitized 123 antique books from the period between the years of 1473-1800 and 154 books from the period of 1873-1944. The research methodology is qualitative, which serves to search on the digital images of the books that have ex-libris, their analysis of the textual and visual elements of the ex-libris notes. The tools to carry out this research are digital tools interwoven with the traditional research of provenance research.
